Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Yesterday I applied for GCMS note for our CEC application. My husband is the primary applicant but not in Canada currently, but I am in Canada. Thus, I submitted the application online.

However, I found that there might be a mistake :(. Since I thought my information must be inside the case, I chose "Yes" in "Are you requesting information on your own behalf" and "Privacy Act". And later, I input my husband information to request case file, since in our AOR there is only his name and UCI#. Furthermore, I did not submit any explanation documents during the application.

Do you think my GCMS application will be refused? If so, could I cancel my application now and submit a new application again? Since the waiting time is 30 days, I do not want to receive nothing 30 days later.

Thanks!

I don't think you can cancel it , You have an Option to wait rest apply for one more with correct details after say 15 days .

Thank you. Do you mean if CIC refuses my GCMS, they will response me within 15 days not 30 days?

Nope I am saying , as you know that you made a mistake , In case you didn't get in 30 days for "whatever reasons - as you are thinking" what you can do is apply again with correct details in 15 days ( If you don't want to wait ) .

Thank you, Gurindar. Thus, could I apply for a new GCMS right away without waiting for the refusal of our current GCMS application?

My friend I personally don't know and can't predict it can be refused or not , but if you certain that it would be cancelled/Rejected , What you can do is order a new set with correct details , Which might save you time , isn't it? if you are certain you can request it again straightway , but thats your call :)

Do you think I could wait till an officer contact me to ask support documents?

Actually, I do not know what the difference is between "Access to Information Act" and "Privacy Act"? I am the spouse and live in Canada, while my husband is the principal applicant but outside Canada. Could I apply for GCMS using my husband's UCI# under "Privacy Act", because there is only his UCI# in our AOR?

Hi,

We made a mistake when we applied for ours and 3 days later they requested the information to be filled in properly or they would close our request

Your mistake is different from ours but I do not think it will take them 30 days to refuse your application, you can not cancel your application you will have to wait and see what happens - although you can submit another request for GCMS notes when ever you want

The difference between the two is here:

Access to Information Act:
The purpose of the Access to Information Act is to provide a right of access to records under the control of a government institution to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or any individual or corporation present in Canada.

The application fee is $5.00.

Under this Act, you can access all government records (which includes corporate documents, as well as personal information).

•Privacy Act:

The purpose of the Privacy Act is to protect the privacy of individuals with respect to personal information about themselves where it is held by a government institution and to provide individuals with the right to access such information.

There are no fees under the Privacy Act.

Under this Act, only personal information may be accessed.

You should request access to information and you should submit also submit a consent form that you both need to sign - as you are requesting on someone else's behalf

The 5 dollars fees is when you request outside from Canada , Am i correct ?

No the $5 is what it costs for access to information

The only way you get it for free is if you order under the privacy act - but that doesn't give you any information on your file

I believe it used to be free a year or more ago, but now it costs $5

Does it mean if we want to get information from GCMS, all of us have to pay $5 no matter whether you are in Canada or not?

I reapplied for GCMS today. But how will CIC deal with my old application?

While filling consent form which is better , Email or via mail ? What is better getting GCMS notes in email or via post ?
