When must a pregnancy be declared, and with what results?
1) If the mother (and PR applicant) becomes pregnant after the PR application has been submitted, but before the official landing, or even at the time of "landing", must she inform CIC immediately? What happens? Is her PR visa put on hold, so that the baby may be born and then investigated before a decision on PR? If she is at Immigration at the airport, and reports her pregnancy, will she be refused entry pending birth of the baby (outside Canada) and investigation of the baby?
2) If she is pregnant but is unaware of it at the time of “landing”, is she OK?
I assume she will be OK if the baby is born in Canada. CIC would surely not say "you should have known you were pregnant at landing, and should have reported it then (so we could deport you until we investigated the baby)."
But what if the PR lands, then leaves Canada, and the baby is born outside Canada? When the mother applies for the baby’s citizenship, CIC will be able to do the math and discover that she was a few months pregnant at “landing”? Could CIC revoke her PR visa pending an investigation of the baby, and then decide whether to reinstate the woman’s PR visa?
I realize that these questions seem similar, but the time frame is slightly different.
