Your friend can invite you. You must prove you have a genuine purpose for a short visit+ strong ties to return home to + a good financial situation. You must prove you can pay for the trip + airfare.

If your net worth is only CAD 15,000, the visa officer will question why you want to spend a significant part of your savings to visit your friend
