Visitor visa for parents

Hello everyone !

I recently received my PR and now i want to apply for my mother's visitor's visa so she can accompany me and help me settle there as i have 2 kids too.
Has anyone gone through the same and recieved a VV for their parent? We do not have anyone there who can provide us with an invitation letter. How do i go about applying for her?

Any help appreciated

Only comment would that hope you realise that visiting to look after the kids if that is the intention would technically be considered illegal work. Others can comment who have tried same but imagine will be challenging to get a TRV to accompany you as an initial PR.

There is a very high chance of refusal if you go through with this plan. It would be better for you to move to Canada and live here for 6-8 months before having your mother apply for a TRV.

As mentioned above the Government of Canada considers any work done to take care of children to be paid work, therefore taxable. That is why the Government has payroll accounts, known as RP accounts which assist the employer with remitting payroll taxes. There are numerous types of payroll accounts. If someone does not agree that having someone come in and take care of their children is not illegal work, then they may want to consider why the Government has Caregiver RP Accounts. These payroll accounts are SPECIFICALLY for those individuals that bring in someone into their home to take care of their children. If the individual is not authorized to work in Canada, then the work would be considered illegal, thus not authorized.

Your mother can certainly try applying for a TRV. However as said before, the chances of refusal are high.

Thanks for the prompt response.. just had a word with one of the relatives there in Canada willing to give an invitation letter. However, they want me to provide them with the matter for the invitation letter. Any idea what the format and matter should be ?

I don’t know. I’m sure you’ll find examples if you google it.

CIC is not stupid. They will see that her child has just received PR. Your mother will also have to show she has the ability to support herself financially but also has strong ties to her home country. You should be actively looking into a plan B.

Right, thank you so much.. it not like thats all my mother is coming with me for.. she obviously wants to travel to but side by side also help me when i need it.
But i guess il have to find another way

You do seem to have family in Canada that can help you out while you settle. Assume you may also have a partner who can also help with the children.

While I do agree with everyone else who has posted in this thread, there have been a few members here whk reported to have successfully applied for TRVs for their moms to help with babysitting and admitting it in the invitation letter. There are also many refusals of course. The Manila Visa Office seems to be more sympathetic for cases like this. Proceed at your own risk.
