In general when the visa office requests passport, RPRF and updated documents, could that possibly mean a visa is near?

Could that also mean no interview is required?

I tend to think it is good news but reluctant to get excited,or maybe I have just turned cold due to all the pitfalls of the process.

Its just you moved ahead one step. Your process at your vo office will start once you send your passport! They will review it and get your background checks etc and will make decision. After that you will get your passport back.

Hey cndcit,

It really depends on which VO is handling your request. New Delhi asks for the passport right away for example, so it doesn't mean much. Mexico seems to only ask when the visa is ready to issue...

Which is your VO?

But at least - they are working on your file, that's good!
Good luck,
