Hello everyone,

I am a US citizen currently living in Dallas TX. My wife is a US citizen as well as Canada citizen. I have had the opportunity to visit Halifax (my wife's family) a few times. I had a wonderful time every time that I was there, beautiful place and people are extremely nice. I have a couple of questions. Is it possible for my wife to sponsor me while we are still living in the US, and move to Halifax some time in the future? If so, what do we need to do?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Have a great day...

Yes it is. Your wife has to provide sufficient evidence of intent to settle in Canada.

Read the stickie at the top of the forum. It provides a lot of helpful information.

Yes, your wife who is the sponsor can apply while living with you in the U.S. This is from the sponsor's guide:

"If I live outside Canada, may I sponsor?
If you are a Canadian citizen, you may sponsor a spouse, a common-law partner or conjugal partner, or a dependent child who has no children of his or her own. However, you must demonstrate that you will live in Canada when the sponsored person becomes a permanent resident."

I would suggest start by reading the Guides:
 • Sponsorship Guide: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3900E.pdf
 • Immigrant's Guide: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3999E.pdf

And then start collecting all your supporting documents: marriage certiticate, pictures of you and spouse together, bills with both your names, etc.

Thanks for the excellent response time. I really appreciate your help (Dakonej & Cantor2537).

Have a nice day...
