Can i marry my Girlfriend in Canada if she holds a PR and i travel to Canada through a Study Permit ?

Can i than extend my stay ?

Which is the best and fastest way in which i can unite with her . She holds a PR and stays in Canada but i stay in Fiji

If you are not married, then she can't sponsor you anyway. Since you are not married, and if you apply for study permit, then it does not matter that your girlfriend lives in Canada. She is not your relative or spouse yet. I don't think it is a good idea to mention in your study permir application that your girlfriend lives in Canada.

If you get study permit and arrive in Canada, she can marry you if she wants and sponsor you. But you have to follow the guideliens for that.

Of course she can travel to Fiji, marry you and come back to Canada to sponsor you. That is why we are all here in this forum to discuss the issues involved :-)

Well vinz_1 didn't give further history of their relationship though. A couple doesn't necessarily have to be married, in order for the Canadian spouse to be eligible to sponsor the foreign spouse. If they've been in a common law relationship for at least 1 year, in fact a sponsorship is allowed.

According to the CIC:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3900ETOC.asp

If you are in a common-law relationship

You can sponsor the person as your common-law partner

* regardless of his or her sex, and
* you are cohabiting in a conjugal relationship and have done so for at least one year.

So vinz_1, please tell us: what is the nature of your relationship? Have you ever been in a common law relationship with your girlfriend, for at least 1 year? And if so, do you have proofs to back up your claims?

Good luck ^_^

You can marry your girlfriend as long as both of you are not presently married ;). But in order to receive more accurate advises, you need to provide more history about your relationship with her and her history of getting PR; i.e. how she received her PR and when, if she has sponsored someone, etc.

That means if i go on a study permit and if we do get married can she sponsor me to stay there ?

If that is so than what should be the length of my study permit be in order for the sponsorship process to finish and allowing me to stay there without returning me back.
