Travel with PR

Are there any resrictions on travelling to other countries (not home country) as a tourist with a new PR?

And if someone were to travel with a PR, would that cause their citizenship to take longer than the 3 years in Canada rule?

Thanks,

Graeme

Their time outside Canada does not count towards the required residency for citizenship.

Hey PMM

Got another question for you:

If my wife was to come to Canada on a tourist visa while awaiting her PR, is it possible to have the interview here in Canada and and pickup her visa in Buffalo or any port? or consulate?

Or would it be better to just wait out the PR from her home, just in case more info is required.

Shes been to Canada before on a TRV, and her PR has been processing since Oct 1 2007. They sent us a letter requiring her to update her medical. She also got a updated Police Certificate just to be sure. She finished the medical a few weeks ago, now back to waiting.

Anyways your immigration wisdom would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,

1. No, the interview if required and the COPR issuance is at the office where she applied.
2. It looks like she is pretty close to the end of the process.
