The labour shortage is creating a new set of problems for Calgary business owners.
Some companies have gone outside of the country to find employees, using the Temporary Foreign Workers program.
The problem is some of these workers leave their jobs once they get to Canada.
One business owner, Owen Colbourne has brought in 31 foreign workers over the past 18 months to work as labourers.
But seven never showed up to work and 13 left without warning.
Those 20 missing workers hired by Coltons Consulting and Maintenance are now unaccounted for.
No one knows exactly where they are but there are rumours they've gone to work for other employers in Northern Alberta.
Canada Border Services says if the missing workers are still in Canada they face prosecution, even criminal charges and deportation.

In 2007 there were over 40,000 TFW allowed into Canada, meanwhile our permanent resident, employable, easily locatable family members are taking a back seat to TFW they let in, and then disappear. Don't you just love it?
As I have said before, Family Class cases should all be processed as a priority before TFW. Favorable outcome or not, WE should take priority in the resources in the system to deal with our applications FIRST. TFW are allowed in after a month or two of processing, and in my case, our application has been sitting in the immigration system for 20 months.
The Cdn. immigration system is so fouled up.
