Status of Current Job Market in Calgary?

Hello, we are PRs, landed in 2016. We are now planning our permanent move for March 2018. We still don't know where to go.

Most websites I've seen say Calgary has higher unemployment rate than most cities due to the economic downturn in the oil industry.

My field is in administration/government and my husband is a Product Developer/UX professional.

We are looking into other cities like Ottawa and GTA but I really liked Calgary when I visited and was hoping to live there.

Should I be discouraged with the current news related to the Job Market?

Depends... if you are good in what you do you should have no problem. Remember that Calgary has a set of very good professionals, so the competition is less but more demanding than in larger cities.
