hi. I am just new to this forum. I have some questions regarding sponsoring a parent and siblings. My husband is my co-signer but I am currently pregnant, I’ll have my EI soon. As of now, we meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor them but what about if I started to take my maternity leave and start receiving EI. Am I still eligible to sponsor them?

My second question is, I’ve just started working here in Canada for 1 year, would that be enough?

Please help me

In order to sponsor your parents and dependent sibling, you and your husband's combined incomes must meet the low income cut off requirements for the last three years. You need to continue to meet this minimum after you submit the application while the application is being processed. If your joint income drops below LICO while the application is being processed and CIC finds out, they will refused your application. Make sure you include your baby in the LICO calculation if your baby is due soon.

Siblings can only be included in a parents application if they are aged 21 or under when app is submitted.

If it's you + spouse + new baby + 2 parents + 1 dependent sibling = 6 people, that will require continued income of more than $76,000 (whether you are on maternity leave EI or not).
