Hi all,

Is a bachelor in psychology classified as a social degree? To me, psychology appears quite broad.

A psychology degree can be an Arts degree or a Science degree depending on the faculty of the university and also depends if u get a BA or a BS. A psy degree is a quite a general degree at the bachelors level unless u get up to the masters level or the PHD level, then u are considered qualified to practice psychology in the practical and scientific level.

To be more specific, I saw job avertisement's for 'social workers' and it states that I require a social degree. However, in my country (Australia) there is no such thing as a social degree per se. Thus, I was asking if a psychology is a subset of a social degree or is a social degree a degree in itself.

If u want to get a degree which involves social work, then u can major in social work or sociology. Psychology degrees are not really considered as social work degrees or social degrees. It may be considered as a social science in some sense but not truly a social degree. There are social work degrees in Canadian Universities.
