Hello I’m getting my application ready but I’m quite worried. I was a refugee claimant and unfortunately in between lawyers fees and cost of life I couldn’t keep up with bills so I had to go on Social assistance, I’m the Principal Applicant, I’m worried this will be an issue, do I have to disclose it? I know it’s a silly question I know they check everything but I’m worried

Are you still on social assistance? You cannot be on social assistance when you submit application and during.

Can you confirm what you are applying for? It's confusing since you mention you are the PA. Are you already a PR or citizen and are sponsoring your spouse?

No Im the principal applicant my husband is a citizen.

Ok - got it.

As long as your spouse is working and you are no longer on social assistance, you should be fine.

I know this is not ideal and I’m truly regretful but my lawyer fees piled up and actually one of the consultants advised me to go on it that it was not a big deal, now I know it is. My concern is, I worked a part time during the time of the social assistance, I wanted to disclose so they see I work but Im not sure is a good idea

You need to be 100% truthful in the PR application.

Assume you also reported to the social assistance office that you were working part-time.
