We have run into a bit of an impasse.

For Russian sponsorships, part of the country specific information, is a notarized copy of the applicants workbook. My wife is telling me that this is impossible. She cannot get this document from her work, until after she quits. She can ask them to make photocopies, but that's all. And those copies won't help us, unless they are done by a notary.

So, are there any other Russians here who can fill me in on what we can do to get the notarized copy of the workbook?

I can't say for certain that either of these approaches will work but ideas:
1) I believe a copy that is stamped by the HR department of the employer is considered a real, valid copy. Ask a notary if they can work with one provided this way. (I think this is something the company is obliged to do when needed)

2) Since the workbook is supposedly electronic (it's now primarily a pension document, I think), you're supposed to be able to access your own online. Again, check with Notary whether they can work with the electronic (but printed) version. Instructions here:

Hope this helps, I might ask an acquaintance. (No direct experience with this myself)

In briefer form I should have asked: has your spouse actually inquired of a notary how this is done?

I'm quite certain it's possible (although haven't been involved myself). I know employers are obliged to give stamped, real copies upon a written request from an employee. It's just a question of how the notaries coordinate this.

Another simple possibility is that the notaries issue a notarisation to the effect that this is a true copy of an extract issued by such and such a company - which is the correct procedure, after all - and that is in fact what IRCC expects.

I can ask of an acquaintance but by far your simplest approach is to ask a notary, they certainly will have dealt with this before.
