Hi

I need help on PR card renewal. I am from India, due to old parents, I have not been able to stay for 2 years in Canada at a stretch, but in parts only.

I was told that to keep your PR and renew your PR card, you need to stay 2 out of 5 years.

Can you help if the following will be ok;

Landed in March 2003 - stayed in Canada for 6 months
Travelled back to India
Came back in March 2004 - stayed for 8 months
Travelled back to India
Came back in August 2005 - stayed for 3 months
Travelled back to India
Came back in July 2006 - stayed for 3 months
Planning to travel back to Canada in November '07

I think by March '08, I will complete 2 years of stay. However, this stay is not in one go, it is in different year.

I do have all proof of stay, receipts of hotel, rent etc.

Will this be ok for renwal of PR card? Does it satisfy the residency needs?

Thanks,

Raj

It appears that you should have 2 years between March/03 and March/08, but is going to be close. You better count the days rather than the months and ensure that you will have 730 days by March/03.

Thanks for reply PMM

I have a confusion on documentation. I do have rent receipts, hotel stay record, travelling record, tickets etc.

However, I worked on temp jobs and for shorter periods. What will happen to tax documentation? Is it mandatory to provide tax filing documentation for PR residency? Will they reject my request for extension?
