I'm having a really difficult time, as I found that my PhD program doesn't fit my expectation -- easy and not so rewarding. I'm thinking quitting my program and find some professor to work with as a research assistant, of course within the same field. And after one year or two I'll apply for a new one. Already got some promises that they are happy to hire me. Now I'm more focusing on the technical issues:
1. How likely my application to changing my status can be accepted (I've been in the university for one year by summer)? I might use different reasons when applying for status change, such as because of my young age, it feels hard to achieve a balance among money management, health and a desire for high achievements (and that's true at some sense). Found that might be better to spend couple years to get familiar with my research area and learning to live independently with high quality, without the stress of finishing my PhD.
2. If they rejected my application, will I lose my study permit simultaneously?
