Question regarding status update during my process

Hello i am just starting the process for the application as a skilled worker, and i am applying single with a child(i am divorced) and my significant other is not yet divorced he is in the middle of this process, then my question is when i am already in the process and his divorced is final meaning he has the document that says so, can i add him to my process, so that we can land together or is it better to continue my process alone and he starts his process alone an then after we land and start a life in canada we can get married, what do you recommend.
