HI .
Assuming one is granted the PR by being asked to send the passport, will he be given the PR card right away sent to his address, or does it require another application of its own? How long does it take to get it?

When you are granted PR and have to send your passport, they will give you a PR visa. This visa usually expires when your immigration medicals are one year old but you will see the date on the visa. You have to use the visa by that date. The visa is good for one entry to Canada where you "land" as a PR. When you do that, you will apply for your first PR card at the same time and they will mail it to a Canadian address that you give them. If you do not have a Canadian address you can give them, you can let them know later. The time to get the card is approximately a month after you give them an address.

is there anyway i can give the address online, or fax it over, i mean when i did the landing i dont have a Canada address?

Yes, I think you can give it online or by calling them or probably by fax as well. You have to ask when you land.

I am already in Canada , so what happens in this case? I guess I will not be asked to send the passport nor do I need the visa, so how do I get the PR card? Do I apply for it or will they send it to me as soon as my application is approved?

I do believe that when you apply from within Canada, you still need to send your passport and get the PR visa. Then you will either have to go land at the border or in some cases you can land in your local CIC office. You give your address in Canada as your mailing address and they will mail you your PR card when it's ready.

Thank you for the clarification.
