Hi guys,

I know everyone are tired of PC questions but I have a special situation here and can't find answer.

So I'm applying as a principal with common law partner. We both lived only in Canada since the age of 18.

So when going through doc's:

1) Document Check List says: You are strongly encouraged to submit PC with your application
2) Instruction Guide says: PC to be provided for eacg country you lived from 18 other than Canada
3) Link in the Document Check list (when selecting Canada) says: Do I need to provide a Police Certificate with my Application for Permanent Residence? No

Also, Document Check list doesn't mention if PC should be done for just myself or me and common law.

So confused, could you please help? :(

PCC has to be done for both you and your partner. You will need PCC's for a country where you have lived more than 6 months continuously. You can send the PCC's after you get your AOR.

But, as I mentioned, not me nor my partner have lived in any other country since the age of 18 but Canada. Based on the rules it seems like Canada is an exempt..

what should we include in the application, if pcc is not received yet ??

my application is ready to be submitted but don't have pcc yet...

PCC for Canada does not need to be provided. RCMP screening might be requested at some point, but it is not requested for all applicants. Since you mentioned that you guys haven't lived anywhere except Canada since you turned 18, you don't need to provide and PCC's.

Mention in your cover letter, that you will be sending the PCC after you receive the AOR. I had done the same thing in my application.

For PCC, that will suffice.

You can include a cover letter explaining that both of you have lived in Canada since the age of 18, and that is the reason you have not included PCCs.

But you and your partner should both be prepared to provide PCCs from your country of citizenship anyway, past experience suggests that CIC will request them, and it's their right to do so. If you're from countries for which it takes a long time to obtain PCCs, you might want to just start working on it anyway, so that you can have it ready if/when CIC asks...
