My parents are on a visitor visa here. I would be extending their visa using the option of authorized extended period of stay. I want to apply for 1 year. I will be sending their application in a couple of days. Their status as visitors would expire on March 17th 2016. So the insurance that I buy should be from March 17th, 2016 to March 17, 2017 or it should start the day I courier my application (i.e. Feb 13th 2016).
CIC will actually open the file only after 4 months (somewhere in may), based on the current processing timelines.
