If i applied for work permit and is taking long and my visitor visa will expire soon, what am i suppose to do Please?

What category are you applying under for work permit? Usually, you cannot apply for work permit from inside Canada as a visitor. Read here:

I applied for spousal, open work permit. My wife is here studying.

i applied 20th Dec 2018, my visa expire in 2 weeks time .
Do you know what date they receive your application assuming you did paper application? because paper application is 22 days. They are working on jan 4th receiving applications.
