Hi all,
I have some questions regarding OCI application for minor (Newborn in Canada)
1. In the OCI application form what we have to fill in National identity document number?
2. In the OCI application form what we have to fill in previous passport number as there is no previous passport?
3. I tried to get good thumb print impression and tried number of times, but it seems the thumb print impression that we are getting is not clear (hard to expect from 2 months baby). So, BLS or Indian consulate usually accept that partially clear thumb print?
4. Baby does not have Voter id nor Ration card. I am a Canadian citizen and my wife is Indian citizen on PR here. So, Still we have to fill declaration form? If yes then how many declaration forms and who's name we have to put there?

1. The national identification number field as I recall is not mandatory (Does not have an asterisk) and hence can be left blank.
I did that for my minors application.
2. Previous passport number would be if the person has a previous Canadian passport.
Its NOT the cancelled Indian passport number.
3. Yup, bls is flexible with thumbprints for babies.
4. Yes, please fill in mandatory declaration for the baby, even though it doesn’t make sense. They took the document while submitting minor application.
I also added parents additional declaration to the application and that was apparently required (as per the person accepting the application at bls)

Bcz I visited before they sent me back..I called them from last 5 days and every day they were saying the portal is down so please don't come..

2. For the previous passport number i will keep it blank as baby never had Indian passport as born i n Canada.
4. In baby's Declaration form, Both parents can sign? And I am a Canadian citizen and i cancelled my voter id and Ration card so i will add my declaration form there. but my wife is still Indian citizen as she is on PR here. So, she still have to put declararion form?. If yes then what she has to fill in declaration form?
I took multiple printouts of the declaration. One was for the baby and added another declaration from me, confirming I don’t have voter id or ration card.
In your case, depending who are you showing as the root for baby’s oci application - you should add in an extra declaration from either of the parent.
My status is Granted since 27 MAY 2025, do you think it should be in Toronto this week? Tried calling BLS, they just say its under process, and they have no information! Any other way i could contact?

I was having same trouble and than I had to ask an agent back home to do it for me, with my authorization as no one is back home who can go. Now he sent me just form 7 I assume what we fill online but only difference is in the one he sent me shows he is a representative. Not sure how does the VOTERS ID cancellation document looks like.
Not sure what BLS needs, do they just need a form7 letter and online acknowledgement form they have for voters id cancellation ?
