Hello, good time of the day, everyone,

Did anyone go through sponsorship with a spouse keeping her maiden name?

That's what I am going to do and was wondering if it adds anything to the usual procedure?

Thanks

I'm the sponsor to my husband. I haven't taken his name yet. I intend to add his name onto mine once he obtains his PR (just to avoid any type of confusion). Not taking your husband's name will not change anything to your process. In fact it will make it easier on your part because you won't have any documentation with differing names. No worries!

I sponsored my wife for PR and she wont be taking my maiden name. All the paper work is done on her original name and we are going good with the process...Nothing to worry about this...Good luck

I'm the applicant, and haven't taken my hudband's name yet. We decided not to for two reasons:
1- We didn't want to have papers with different names for myself, especially concerning my passport
2- It is illegal here in Chile to change one's names (we never change our last names, even after the wedding). Because of this, it is not usual in my culture to change the wife's name to that of the husband's. Hubby and I agreed that when we're back to CA, I'm going to change my last name to his on the Canadian documents.
So far we haven't been told of any problems regarding this decision :)
Good luck!
