Hello to all. I am from the United States. I am helping a dear friend from the Ukraine who is wishing to come to Canada. I am doing the best I can sorting through it all and I have many questions. My first question I will post concerns the job listings. My friend is a television producer. Does this fall under any of the job listings? Thank you for your replies.

good luck

Thank you for the list. I appreciate it and am familiar with it, but still a little confused. One of the assessments I took on the Canada/Immigration website listed a television producer as a skill level B. Does that mean it falls under one of the categories on the list automatically? Would it fall under any of the jobs listed..like Information systems manager or Accommodation Service manager? Maybe I am just "wishful thinking." Help!..and thank you :)

after shearching in the website for noc i have seen this profession (television producer) under this category :

5131 Producers, Directors, Choreographers and Related Occupation

artistic director – motion picture
choreographer
cyber-choreographer
director – motion picture
director of photography
film editor
filmmaker
multimedia audio producer
producer – performing arts
producer-director
radio producer
record producer
stage director – performing arts
technical director – broadcasting
television producer

you can see it in that website:

http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/ProfileQuickSearch.aspx?val=5&val1=5131&val65=television+p

but unfortunatly according to the website televisiosn producer does not fall under Accommodation Service or Information systems manager

So...then am I correct in assuming that it would not fall under a skilled worker category? I apologize if I sound stubborn or ignorant, I just want to be clear before we move forward with this plan of action. Thank you!

actually it does fall under the skilled work clasification in canada under level A according to the matrix in this link : http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/html/Matrix.html

but unfortunatly it doesn't fall under the current group or list of occupations that the minister has announced to be eligible to immigrate as a FSW under category (1) : There are three categories under the Federal Skilled Worker Class: according to the link ( http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/skilled.asp ) ;

Category 1: For persons in an occupation which corresponds to the list of occupations identified in the Ministerial Instructions and have evidence of one year of continuous full-time (or full-time equivalent) experience in that occupation;
•Category 2: For persons who have arranged employment offer with a Canadian employer; or
•Category 3: For students or workers who are legally residing in Canada, and have done so for at least 12 months immediately before submitting their application.

however it does work under category 2 or 3 if you have arranged employment offer or you are a foreign national who has been living in canada for at least 12 months because your work "TV producer" is already exist in the national occupation clasification in canada however if your friend doesn't meet the other two categories he will need to wait for any future updats on the eligible job list for category number (1)

good luck
