I have worked for the same boss for 16 years. During that time he changed his companies name 3 times.
On the referance letter he wrote that in the first company my employment was from FEB 1996 to march 1996.
This should have been FEB 1995 to MARCH 1996. All the other dates he wrote are correct. But the mistaken one contrdicts the date on
my application forms.
I have fallen out with him since over unpaid wages and he wont answer my calls or emails.
My question is: will this clerical error make a huge difference to my reference letter in the eyes of the Canadian Embassy.

You can explain that in a seperate letter and maybe just proove that you have been employed there by adding the paystubs for that period. (First and last)
Or you see if you get a record of employment showing you working period there. Should also work.
That's what I would do...

I wonder should I just take a chance and submit it the way it is. I dont want to rock the boat. CIC hopefully will realise it is a clerical error. Any more input on this would be a great help.

Your choice, your risk...
Why not beeing mostly secure about a basicly "easy" thing by submitting the right documents and explanation?
Why giving anyone the chance to question your truthfulness if u can avoid it?
You are aware of that lack/mistake, so why not acting predictive?
Why giving any chance to extend the entire process by requesting explanations through the visa officers?

I don't understand?

If u don't wanna add the paystubs or other evidence just go with an explanation letter and see if that would be enough... At least u did something.

Exactly my thoughts Morepower. It makes good sense to get a 2nd opinion though.
Thanks for your reply.

You're welcome and good luck to you!
Everything will be fine- you'll see!
