I am currently a live-in caregiver from Thailand and have applied for permanent residency for myself and two kids. I have already completed the medical checks and am waiting on final approval. I have a couple of questions that I hope someone can answer:

1. Can I go back to visit Thailand during my application process (3-4 weeks) and come back to Canada? Will that affect my application?

2. Is there a time limit to when I have to bring my kids to Canada once they receive permanent residency? Can they stay in Thailand for 1 or more years and then come over?

3. Once I receive permanent residency am I free to choose any job I wish, or do I have to stay as a live-in caregiver? Do I have to apply for an open work permit?

Thanks for your help,
Noi

Yes, as long as you have a valid work permit and a TRV to return.

Their visa will only be valid for 1 year from the date of their medical exam.

Permanent residents don't require work permits.

Do you know if I have to be the one that takes my kids into Canada (they are 13 & 15 years old), or can they come in with someone else?

Depends on the airline, they not require escorts. Someone else could do, maybe the airlines.

once you get PR , you are free to do any type of job, anywhere in Canada. You kids have to enter canada before the expiry of thier PR visa.

and no one can apply PR before completing 24 months of employment as a live-in caregiver.
