Finding a job in a new country is not easy. In Canada, your odds of finding employment depend of many factors including your resume and cover letter (make sure they are written following Canadian standards), your work experience, your volunteering experience, whether you have networked enough in the field, whether you have access to the "hidden market", your language proficiency, etc. Lots of factors and details to take into account!

In Canada, it is considered important to assist newcomers in their job search, as receiving information and assistance has been proven to increase their odds of securing a job, and this in turn will help them better settle and be successful in Canada. To this end, IRCC approves and funds free pre-arrival services to help you prepare before you land in Canada. In their own words, "We strongly recommend that you use pre-arrival services to better prepare you for life in Canada."

Many services are offered Canada-wide, while others are focused on a specific province or a specific professional field (for example, meat processors, or nurses). If you are coming to Manitoba, you can receive services from two local pre-arrival services. One of them is the Immigrant Centre Pre-Arrival Centre, www.ic-pac.com , where you can obtain both settlement-oriented and employment-oriented information. You can sign up as soon as you receive an UCI number from IRCC (formerly known as CIC).
