Greetings forum members,

I am currently in NYC (visiting the US on a visa) and will be driving up to Canada later this week for my landing (with the final destination being Toronto). I am only landing right now; will be moving to Toronto somewhere around November this year. There is a lot of scattered information on this forum, and not much specifics on driving into Canada from the US. I am hoping the experienced forum members can help me finalize my preparations:

1) Port of entry: Niagara falls or Peace bridge?
2) Documents required: Passport, COPR, Application for a PR card, List of goods to follow (what level of detail is needed here?), Bank statement (proof of funds). Anything else I need?
3) I am going to be in Canada only for 3-4 days and going to give the address of a family friend for the PR card, which will then be FEDEXed to me in London where I currently reside. Is there anything I need to put on the Goods accompanying list?
4) Not related to immigration: Can anyone suggest places to visit/see in and near Toronto over a period 3-4 days? :)

Thanks!

My personal experience at Niagra falls was excellent. In exactly 15 minutes they signed the COPR and told me my rights and let me in.

You need no application for a PR card. They do that for you.

You will have to let CIC know your current address. They tell you that you should list whatever you will need to bring.

I suggest: Royal Ontario Museum. Ripley's Aquarium. The toronto Islands. The Hamilton hiking area and waterfalls. Downtown Toronto.

Thanks!

What will you be driving? If it is a rental vehicle, it's advised that your rental agreement states that it's OK to take the vehicle into Canada/Ontario.
