I can see many people are planning to Land soon...........here are some tips......I am sure you all know MOST of it from QORAX's thread and other seniors.

1. You have to fill E677 form to report your Proof of funds. This form has to be signed in front of the Immigration officer. Fill in the details but dont sign until you are asked by IO

http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/e677.pdf

2. Fill B4A form for goods to follow...make 2 copy .
http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/b4a.pdf

3. Fill B4 form for goods to accompany...make 2 copy.
http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/b4-eng.pdf

4. Take pics of jewellery and number them ( B/W would do) and include on B4 form with equivalent Cad Conversion. No receipts are required. Weigh all the gold and calculate with current gold value. They dont pay much attention. (2 copy).

** People who are in Canada and will eventually (if) go to their homecountry for visa stamping :

Please do take pics of the gold jewellery that you have here in Canada and attach them to the B4 forms.
You have to retain this copy whenever you travel (later), in case you are carrying a large amount of gold.

5. The immigration officer signs and dates the COPR paper after all procedures are completed. If there is a mistake on the COPR made by IO, for eg, wrong date as signed, then there is a wait period of approx 14 weeks to rectify it.....so PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK the doc when she/he hands you the doc back.

If you detect the error later you may do the amendment by filling up the below form:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM1436B.PDF

This will however not prevent one from taking SIN number.

This date as signed on landing is of utmost importance as it will be the one that will be taken into consideration when you apply for Citizenship.

6. PLEASE RETAIN ALL YOUR BOARDING PASSES ...you may need them later as an additional proof for your landing date.

AND for CITIZENSHIP

One of the prerequisite to become a citizen depends on the TIME LIVED IN CANADA

" To become Canadian citizens, adults must have lived in Canada for at least three years (1,095 days) in the past four years before applying. Children under the age of 18 do not need to meet this requirement."

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/become-eligibility.asp

Sometimes when there is a discrepancy regarding the number of days of physical presence in Canada, one has to prove that he/she was indeed present physically in Canada.

The BOARDING PASSES would help you and the Judge determine the actual dates. Also please NOTE that CANADA does not have any EXIT CONTROLS. So, when you actually leave Canada, there is no stamping in your Passport.

Saving the boarding passes seems to me the only way to determine the physical presence in Canada. Please also retain them in case you happen to leave Canada (for vacation) at any time before you apply for Citizenship.

7. If you come through Montreal (Quebec), you HAVE TO DO LANDING at Montrael as this would be your POE even though your final destination is different. After you board domestic flight there is NO IMMIGRATION dept on arrival.

You have to take your luggage at Montreal, go to Customs, do Immigration (ie PR procedures) and release your luggage for onward journey.

8.. Please protect your photographs on COPR papers from being scratched as it might be a potential reason of rejection despite correct dimensions.

9. It is not necessary to have a ratio of 80:20 (Monetary instrument: cash). Mostly according to convenience and availability.

10. Indian Bank statement works fine.....you just have to tell the Immigration officer (audibly enough) the required amount of POF....not a penny less. They dont care to check the statements ....but be safe and carry them (I know you would do ).

Add up all the money (in any form) and convert into Cad currency and say that amount when asked.

11. For members who wish to bring in their PETS

Hi,
I had landed a year back with CAD xxxxx , and did not fill the E677 form as I was not aware of the same nor did anyone ask me and also left canada with the same Cad xxxxx bank draft as i stayed only 10 days. While leaving too no one enquired about the funds I am taking back.
Now I plan to move with a bit more than what i carried a year back.
Will it create any problems?
If yes, what is the course of action i should take .

Thanks & Regards,
Vidya

Hi!

E677 is only required if some one is carrying $10,000 or more per person. If you were carrying less than that you wouldn't have required to fill E677. It won't create any problems if you go again because you have already landed and done landing formalities. Make sure if you carry $10,000 or more per person fill this form and it can be filled in advance by the link given above in mitali's post but make sure to sign in presence of CBSA officer.

You will also get this declaration card on flight

http://www.cbsa.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/e311-eng.pdf

In this card if you are carrying $10,000 or more per person you have to tick yes to "Currency and/or monetary instruments of a value totalling CAN$10,000 or more per person"

Thanks

Hi Vidya,

You will have to fill out the Declaration form (it will be handed out to you by your flight carrier).....which is a normal procedure.

Yes, if the monetary amount that you are BRINGING IN is more than 10,000 Cad (per person) then you will have to declare. You may carry a E677 form and sign it in front of IO when requested as suggested by Cocknbull.

Thanks mitali for this useful post. I have C$ 30K in TD Bank and may carry approx $3K in cash with me. I am leaving approx 12K behind in Indian Bank and Mutual Funds to be brought to Canada in approx 6 months. Do I need to declare all these funds on arrival?

Cheers..

Hi Verma,

Congratulations on your Visa....well deserved. :)

As you will completing your PR procedures at the Immigration, you will have to declare the 30k in Canadian acct and the cash. Is the Indian money and Mutual funds part of your POF? If not then, no need to declare. Since you are not bringing the Indian money now (as it is not declared as POF), so no need to show that amount now as it will not be ENTERING Canada on the day you do in April.

As for the other money in Indian account that will be transferred OVER 6 months...if the amount exceeds CAD 10,000/person/per trip, then you will have to fill the Declaration form (on board) and the E677 form.....This is for latter, not now. The IO are very helpful, you may clarify your query with them as well.

Canada beckons you Verma.... :).
