Hi, me and my girlfriend now aware that we might be in common law relationship. Since her application is still in process, I thought I may able to update the info before a determination is made. However, her provincial nominee is already done and she was claimed as single in that application. Lawyer said in that case it still could be considered misrepresentation and fraudulent. What should we do? Or if you know any lawyer have been dealt with case of similar kind pls give me a referral and I can contact that lawyer.
Is it too late to change marital status? The PR is still in process but the province of nominee is already done!

You have to send Webform to cic and ask them to add you in her application. When you notify cic them will send u bunch of forma to fill which you have to fill out sign and send them back. It will take around 2-7 months to add you in her file. Also you have to provide proofs that you guys are actually in common law relationship like pictures, bills, joint accounts and other stuff which covers 12 months full period. Common law becomes when you live together in marriage like relationships and you have to prove it. Make sure you notify cic as soon as possible. You guys will get pr together if she you arr accompanying her in her application. Other idea is that she can add u in her application as common law and later sponsor you but that period takes around 12 months. You will have to go through medical and criminal checks doesn’t matter she add u now or later.
Thank you so much. The thing is she already got her provincial nominee, if change status during this time of the period will it be considered as fraud? If so, I will quit to apply PR under this stream.
It’s fine if she haven’t add you in her pnp. She can add you in federal process. You can email pnp later and let them know about you martial status change but it should be fine if you didn’t. Make sure she add you in her application now in federal process. You should be fine this is not fraud don’t worry.
