HI MY NAME IS CARWIN PLEASE EXCUSE ALL CAPS I CANNOT READ WHAT I WRITE IF I USE UPPER AND LOWER CASE SO I APOLOGIZE FROM THE START

MANILA STARTED PROCESSING OUR APPLICATION JULY 27 2009. WE HEARD NOTHING EXCEPT ASKING FOR PASSPORT AND TWO YEAR HISTORY IN AUGUST THEN IN SEPTEBER ASKING FOR MY WIFE'S VOTER REGISTRATION HIGH SCHOOL RECORDS AND SOME OTHER THING. I CALLED MY MP MID DECEMBER AND WAS TOLD MY WIFE'S APPLICATION WAS UP FOR REVIEW DEC. 18. THEY KNEW SHE WAS WHO WE SAID SHE WAS AND THEY WOULD NOT NEED FURTHER INFORMATION TO PROVE HER IDENTITY.
I CALLED MP OFFICE AGAIN DECEMBER 22 SHE CALLED ME BACK THE NEXT DAY. MANILA TOLD HER IT TAKES 8 MONTHS FOR APPROVAL AND THEY WERE CONCERNED ABOUT OUR AGE DIFFERENCE. I JUST TURNED 58 MY WIFE IS 20. SO THEY SAID AN INTERVIEW IS LIKELY NOW. I THEN SENT AN EMAIL TO MANILA TO ASK FOR INFORMATION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE SO I COULD GO WITH HER TO MANILA SHE IS FROM PROVINCES IN DAVAO ORIENTAL AND SUFFERS THE WORST CASE OF MOTION SICKNESS I HAVE EVER SEEN. SO I ASKED THEM TO INFORM ME SO I COULD ACCOMPANY HER TO MANILA SO SHE WOULD NOT END UP SICK AND ALONE IN SUCH A BIG PLACE.
MY QUESTIONS FOR ALL OF YOU
1. IS IT NECESSARY FOR INTERVIEW TO BE IN MANILA
2. HOW LONG AFTER REVIEW THAT DETERMINES INTERVIEW IS NECESSARY WILL THE INTERVIEW BE.
3. HAS ANYONE ELSE GONE THROUGH THIS. ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED.AS OUR ANNIVERSARY IS FEBRUARY 10 AND WE WOULD DEFINITELY LOVE TO BE TOGETHER FOR THAT BUT WE HAVE DETERMINED HELPING HER GET TO MANILA IS OF PRIMARY CONCERN.
4. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF IT IS AT ALL POSSIBLE FOR THE INTERVIEW TO TAKE PLACE THEN GET APPROVED IMMEDIATELY SO SHE WOULD NOT HAVE TO GO THROUGH A TWO HOUR FLIGHT AND 5 HOUR BUS RIDE BACK HOME THEN DO IT ALL AGAIN A FEW WEEKS LATER IN ORDER TO COME HERE. IN OTHER WORDS HOW LONG AFTER INTERVIEW WOULD SHE GET HER PERMANENT RESIDENT VISA
5. HAVE I DONE EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO HELP HER THIS WAY OR IS THERE SOMETHING ELSE I COULD DO. I KNOW SHE WILL NEED PERMISSION FROM FATHER TO TAKE SEMINAR IN MANILA.

I AM JUST TRYING TO FIND OUT ANY INFORMATION AT ALL I KNOW SHE WILL PASS INTERVIEW I AM NOT SOME FEEBLE OLD MAN WHO IS BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BY MY WIFE. WE LOVE EACH OTHER DEEPLY, WE TALK ONLINE EVERYDAY AND ON THE PHONE 15 TIMES A MONTH I SENT PHOTOS OF MY YAHOO ARCHIVE SHOWING 30 CONVERSATIONS PER MONTH FOR EVERY MONTH WE HAVE KNOWN EACH OTHER I TOLD THEM WE TALK EVERYDAY IF THEY WANT MORE JUST NAME THE DAYS OTHERWISE IF I SEND THEM ALL IT WOULD TAKE A SMALL TRUCK. JUST 3 DAYS WAS 90 PAGES.

ALSO WHAT IS CAIPS I HAVE NO IDEA IS THAT SOMETHING I NEED. AND SHE WILL NEED A COPY OF MY DIVORCE TO TAKE SEMINAR WHICH WAS SENT TO MANILA SO WILL THEY SEND ALL THE THINGS WE SENT TO MISSISSAUGA BACK TO HER OR JUST GIVE TO HER AFTER INTERVIEW.
I KNOW I AM ASKING ALOT AND I KNOW NO ONE PERSON HAS THE ANSWERS SO I WOULD APPRECIATE AS MUCH AND AS MANY REPLIES AS IT TAKES TO HELP US GET THROUGH THIS FINAL STEP. THANK YOU SO MUCH I WOULD WARN OTHERS THAT AN AGE DIFFERENCE THAT BIG WILL BE A PROBLEM BUT YOU CANNOT HELP WHO YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH AND HAVE EVEN LESS CONTROL OVER WHO FALLS FOR YOU SO ALL I SAY IS GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL.
IF THEY EVER ASK ME HOW I KNOW THAT SHE LOVES ME THE ANSWER IS SO EASY IF YOU CHAT ONLINE CAM TO CAM EVERYDAY FROM THE MINUTE YOU WAKE UP UNTIL YOU FALL ALSEEP OR LEAVE FOR WORK AND THEN EVERY WAKING MOMENT AFTER YOU GET OFF WORK AND EACH TIME YOU SEE HER IN CAM WAITING FOR YOUR CAM TO APPEAR AND SHE BREAKS OUT IN A SMILE THAT WOULD LIGHT UP COMMONWEALTH STADIUM EACH AND EVERY TIME THEN YOU KNOW THAT PERSON TRULY LOVES YOU. I DO EXACTLY THE SAME WHEN I SEE HER.
ANYWAY FELLOW APPLICANTS HELP ME OUT I APPRECIATE THE EFFORT AND I ALSO APPRECIATE WHAT EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU ARE GOING THROUGH.

THANKS SORRY FOR BEING SO VERBOSE
SINCERELY

interview is because of your age difference.
they would ask questation like why you married to older person then you.and reason for ur divorce.
if you can prove that this is marriage for love only and u both going to leave togather then there is no problem.you can accompany her but u cant go eith interview.she has to do alone.
all the best.

And if you Google CAIPS notes Canada, you'll find companies in Canada that specialize in getting you the CAIPS notes, for about $40. Since you can deal with them by email, and some are in Ontatio, they can mail your request to the government quickly, and you'll get the notes more quickly.

If you read the notes and don't understand what they really mean, you can also ask the company you choose to interpret the notes, for about another $60.

From what I know of Manila, it's highly unlikely that your wife will be given a visa right after the interview. Do not count on the off chance of it happening. The immigration office MIGHT tell your wife if they intend to accept or refuse the application, but it probably won't happen right away, she will have to wait several days until her passport is mailed to her.

Yes, it is necessary for the interview to be in Manila, the interviewer will not travel elsewhere for your wife.

With the cases I've been able to find for Manila with people who were asked to come to an interview, the letter they received asked to appear for an interview within a month from that day, sometimes less. So you might get only 3 weeks notice.
It would be a good thing if you were there - I have read of at least one case where the sponsor was actually called during the interview and asked some additional questions (that was from an interview in Manila). Most times they don't ask the sponsor anything and you will definitely not be allowed to be present during it (you can escort your wife to the door, but then she's on her own), but it'd be a good thing if you were there.

Most likely the interview is because of the age difference - she's only 1/3 your age, she's young enough to be your granddaughter, so it's not surprising. Her reasons for the marriage will be questioned. She can expect questions about what she likes about you, about how well she knows you (make sure she knows how many siblings you have, where you work, about your previous marriage,...), what your plans are when she comes to Canada, what her family thinks of the relationship, what your family thinks of the relationship, ... She can also expect a question like "what will you do if I refuse your application?". None of it is overly difficult, it's things most couples would easily answer, but an interview is always a stressful situation and people get nervous under stress, answering questions becomes more difficult, so it's a good idea to go over the possible questions beforehand.

That' useful information, Mitamata. May I ask where you got your insights? WHile I am waiting the many months for Hong Kong to make a decision, I'd like to do some preparation in case an interview is called.

So, please direct me to your sources, if you will.

Hmmm, to reveal the secret? I don't know ;)

For the interview questions, it's just things I've picked up in my year and a half of reading immigration forums.

For the Manila details: I searched for 'canada manila interview' on Google and the 3rd hit I got is a link to another discussion board I am a member of. I looked at the timelines posted on the first page. I did check a few of the later pages as well, but... well, people from the Philippines tend to slip into their own language quickly, so if you don't speak it, most of that thread is efficiently encrypted. Hehe.
I'll PM you the link :) I'm sure a good search of these forums would find several Manila timelines as well though.

1. IF YOU WRITE DOWN ON THE APPLICATION THAT YOU CHOOSE THE VISA OFFICE IN MANILA THEN THE INTERVIEW WILL BE IN MANILA. I AM LIIVING IN CALIFORNIA US, I DONT KNOW THERE IS A CANADIAN VISA OFFICE IN LOS ANGELES SO I CHOSE BUFFALO, NEW YORK, I AM HAVING THE INTERVIEW IN FEB 2009, I HAVE TO FLIGHT 7 HOURS TO GET THERE AND MY HUSBAND FROM ALBERTA DOES THE SAME. WE WILL HAVE TO SPEND A LOT OF MONEY FOR FLIGHTS, HOTEL AND EVERYTHING THERE. THERE ARE A LOF OF DIFFICULTIES TRAVEL IN WINTER TIME. SO YOUR CASE IS JUST OKAY IF YOU CAN ARRANGE IT WELL. WHATEVER DIFFICULTIES ARE WE WOULD MAKE GREAT EFFORD FOR YOUR LOVE.

2.MY CASE, THEY REVIEW MY FILE IN THE EARLY OF OCTOBER THEY SENT THE LETTER REQUIRED INTERVIEW AT THE BEGGINNING OF NOVEMBER, SO THEY NOTICED ME 3 MONTHS IN ADVANCE. I HAVE INTERVIEW IN FEB.

3.YOU MAY NEED HELP FROM HER RELATIVES OR FRIENDS TO GET HER THERE. YOU CAN ACCOMPANY HER TO THERE WITH YOU AS MY HUSBAND DOES, THAT'S REALLY IMPORTANT TO PROVE THAT YOUR RELATIONSHIP IS GENUINE.

4.ACTUALLY, IT DEPENS ON THE DECISION OF THE VISA OFFICER, WE CAN NOT KNOW

5.I THINK THEY WILL LET YOU TO THE INTERVIEW ROOM WITH YOUR WIFE AS IN THE LETTER SAYS :"YOUR SOPNSOR MAY ALSO ATTEND"

Hi Carwin!!! To my surprise, we have almost the same timeline but a bit different situation... here's mine:

Jun 9 ,2009 >> sent completed application docs to CPC-M, with med receipt, nbi, marriage cert and paid full.
Jun 11, 2009 >> CPC - M recieved
July 20,2009 >> Sponsorship application approved and then sent to Manila
July 27, 2009 >> We started processing application on July 27, 2009 in manila
Aug 4, 2009 >> passport requested
Aug 7, 2009 >> passport sent

A couple calls from immigration (one in Sep to ask my hubby to pick up phone cards i sent with the package then the other is in Oct to confirm if he's been affected by Ketsana---which he was). And until now i haven't heard anything from them yet. I mean, could our age be the reason for the delay as well?? he's 26 and i am 24, got married in Mar 7 2009 in Manila, we are childhood sweethearts (before my family moved here in 2002) and I dont think our relationship will be questioned (I went back for 4 times, spent 2-3months each time)... but what could've gone wrong? and what should i do next??? can anyone give advise please? thanks in advance!
