Hello,
I am a bit confused about where to send my application... I am a Canadian citizen and am sponsoring my Bolivian common-law partner under the family class category. He is currently in Canada on a temporary visitors visa which expires in 6 months. I was under the impression that since he is here, we can send the application to the Vegreville office for inland applicants. However, an agent at CIC told me today that since my partner is not legally able to be in Canada for more than a year (due to his visa being valid for 6 months), we cannot apply inland and have to send our application to Mississauga.
I was hoping to have my partner stay in Canada under "implied status" until the application process is complete, but now Im not sure if that is possible.
Can someone please help me out??
Much appreciated,
Chumel
