I submitted a spouse application that was received by CIC on June 7th. I also submitted an open work permit application with the spouse application.

As of today I've still heard no word on when my open work permit will be approved and there's no info online. I have two questions:

1. Should I have received separate notification for receivable of my open work permit application?
2. How long is it currently taking to approve open work permits that have been submitted with spouse applications?

Please help!
1. No you won't receive anything. If you had it tracked by your courier, then the notification that it was signed for is your only receipt.

Do you mean June 7th 2015 or 2016?

The OWP will just magically appear, as if from thin air. No covering letter or anything with it. It will be granted before 4 months (if not, complain!). They will not say anything to you, unless they need something from you. You can also log into ecas and look to see what your application's statuses are. You will grow to hate Tuesday's as well -- just a heads up on that.

Status?

Thank you so much profiler! Will I receive notification by post and email?
Comes in an envelope. It's official tamper-proof paperwork.

Hey folks, so I logged into mycic and my application was "updated"... the updates had medical as passed and "review in progress" for Review of Eligibility.

Anyone know what this means?

(We haven't heard anything about SA-- CIC has an incorrect email address for my spouse, so we wouldn't have heard anything).

Hello all. Newest permanent resident in Canada today. Had my finalizing interview this morning and received my document! I got married to my beautiful wife on Saturday and can honestly say I don't know which has made me happier - don't tell the missus!

Timeline:
March 2015 applicant
April 2015 1st aor
May 2015 2nd aor
May 2015 went to see MP
June 15th requested GCMS notes (received 15th July)
June 28th wrote letter to Justin Trudeau
July 25th Sponsot received SA
August 3rd - Finalising interview scheduled for 16th August
August 16 - It happened!

The interviewer asked no personal questions, just procedural ones (no dependants, no crimes, etc), signed the form and was in and out in 5 mins ending with 'congratulations you're now a permanent resident'. She advised not to leave the country and said a card would take 4-6 weeks.
The forum is sensational and supportive. Your time will come. Take what positives you can from this, but gripe when you need too. People understand that. But don't let the process get the better of you.

Good luck all.

Hey guys, hoping to get an opinion. I don't have too many details.

We got the dreaded Refusal letter today, which our lawyer informed us of. He said to us that they did not have legal grounds to refuse us based on their reasoning and for us to not be worried (ya right...). My question is, we applied in-land with the understanding that there is no appeal process. If their decision wasn't within the legalities of refusal, can this be appealed be it formally or informally?

Our inland application was received on April 27, 2016 and it started processing on June 26, 2015. We diligently check the CIC status online and it's always been "In Process".

Can someone advise what usually happens next? If they need anything, the status would change, right? Is there anything else we should be doing besides this?

When did you apply? You can't appeal inland. You can apply again Outland. Did you have an interview before your refusal? If you don't mind asking, where are you from?
