Ok Guys some updates from MP in Toronto.

We do qualify for OHIP with OWP case 27.

Steps to follow:

Go to Service Ontario with OWP and a letter from employer that states that we will be working more than 6 months.
If refused, ask for number ID of person who denied and name.
Go to your MP and he will send you to your MPP and they will issue the OHIP.

info is coming from Craig Scott, MP in Toronto on Broadview Ave.
He also said that if we are on implied status after being in Canada on a working visa we might qualify for OHIP without letter of employment (waiting for confirmation, as soon as I get it I will post it)
He also said that people who never worked in Canada before and is getting a OWP is likely to have some issues, but not denied.

He said that people working on CIC are just students without experience and they are reading info from a book,and is not reliable.
He also said that they are updating all the centres with the new info.

For those people who already have the OWP go and try it, I will do it as soon as I have it.

Yes. Grant and Student loan is no benefit.

I had a look on the spreadsheet and people in Toronto is likely to wait more than the others

Thank you Insonoro! You'll have yours shortly! Btw: neither my partner nor I ever received the AOR email. She just happened to log into Ecas using my UCI # on 7/21.

When did CIC start to process your app on ECAS?
To have an idea, mine says the same day we got AOR.

We were able to see that they received my PR app via ecas. Right now it just says received, which I suspect will be the case for the next 15-16 months. As for my sponsor's app, we have not been able to log into ecas to verify that they received it (though we haven't tried recently). It stands to reason that CIC wouldn't have cut me an OWP if they weren't also processing the sponsorship application.
We'll deal with this in due course, if necessary.

At any rate, I think my actual AOR date would have been three weeks ago.

One thing I'll add is that this forum has helped me not to worry about this sort of thing... just knowing so many people are going through the same thing. Staying positive is important.

After just 4 months of not working, I'm itching to get a new work permit. Super happy to see you guys getting them and I guess I should expect mine in about two weeks! Fingers crossed!

Hello there, I am a Canadian Permanent resident and engaged to an Indian girl recently in June in India. Is it possible for the girl to come to canada and then we will get married here in canada and then apply for her PR from here? Does she have to leave canada once her visa expire? can she apply for work permit while her PR file is in process? and how long it will take for the entire process to complete?

Also, I have a question. I have a work permit from an LMIA which expires on October 12th, I am not going to receive my OWP until around December. I know that the IEC work permits do not grant implied status so that you can carry on working. But what a work permit from LMIA, will I still be able to work in the interim?
