Asking on behalf of a friend.

He applied under CEC and it has been 4 months post AOR. Medicals cleared. They recently found out that her wife is pregnant & due date is somewhere March-April next year. We were just wondering if they need to inform this to CIC. According to the AOR, it says to inform if there is a change in family composition or addition of a family member. But nothing has changed yet.

Thanks

No, you don't really need to inform them of the pregnancy. You need to inform them as soon as the baby is born, but only if they haven't already landed in Canada. Since it's likely that they will get the CoPRs soon, they may well be able to come to Canada before the baby is born and have the baby here.

If they choose to have the baby in their home country (may be better from a financial standpoint since they may not have healthcare for a few months), then yes, they need to tell IRCC after the baby is born.

Nothing wrong with telling IRCC about the pregnancy if they haven't got their CoPR by Jan-Feb. At that point, it's practically certain that they will only come after the birth of the child, so they will need to add the kid to the application and get new CoPRs. Giving IRCC a heads up will help.

Oh I just saw that they are CEC - must already be in Canada with healthcare coverage.

If they are certain that the baby will be born here, there's nothing they need to do. It's only if they are going to have the baby outside Canada that they need to think about informing IRCC.

Thank you for the response @21Goose. I will tell that to sit back and relax & hopefully they receive their PR before the baby :)
