I'm requesting information about Refugee Convention outside Canada

Does anyone know the process of applying as a Refugee convention outiside Canada?
- How can one find a sponsor or be sponsored?

If you are outside Canada, you must be recognized as a refugee through UNHRC. However, UNHRC decides where you will be resettled and it may not be Canada. Or you apply for a visitor visa, and fly to Canada and claim asylum at the airport. To get a visa, you must show funds, travel history, strong ties to home country etc.

Another option is through private sponsorship called Group of 5. You find Canadians who are willing to sponsor you to come to Canada. Information for all these paths are in the link.

You would need to have a family member or a close friend who is already in Canada and who is willing to find four other Canadians to sponsor you through the Group of Five program.
