Hi , i am in Canada on a closed work permit since November 2013 and i am planning to apply for my PR this November. My wife is here on an Open work permit from June 2014 . I understand we need to finish IELTS to apply for PR . I will be the primary applicant for PR . Does this mean my wife takes IELTS as well to apply for PR ?

Please clarify

Regards,
Savio

No. Only the Primary Applicant needs IELTS.

Thanks a lot :) . Is there someone who can share the materials for IELTS generic module ?

Just take a minimum of 5 pratice tests which I think are available online and you should be good. But do take the practice tests seriously as it will help you with the time management.

Thanks a lot :) Can u share some links to take the tests online ?

I'm not allowed to post links here. Just google "free ielts practice" and you will find plenty. The first link is by British Council who are one of the stakeholders of IELTS. If you are planning to take the test in India then once you pay the fees the exam organizers send you a booklet with the practise tests. Not sure if the same happens if you give it in Canada/US.

if you want to claim points for your wife's language ability then she needs to take the test.

I don't think this is true for CEC. It doesn't matter if the spouse takes IELTS or not.
