Hi,

Can i know the logic behind not accepting academic IELTS?

As far as i know that academic IELTS is tougher than GT.

BR/FK

I read on here that a russian with a PhD in English from Oxford had to IELTS. Surely, a PhD in english from Oxford should be more rigorous than academic IELTS or general IELTS. I think it has to do with how they have set the point system against General. They didn't set it against academic so they probably want people to do general.

@ thinker038,

I'm baffled by this logic as well. Why can't they accept the tougher version of the same test conducted by the same agency? That doesn't make any sense.

That being said, I read in this forum recently that a physio (?) had to do the academic IELTS for license purposes in Canada, so he sent that across with an explanation and they accepted that. So, they're making exceptions in valid cases. Good to know that.

Yes, I have heard of other ppl having taken Academic IELTS and sending it and having no problems but if GT is available to you and you did not already take IELTS, do the GT since they ask for it.

In my opinon you should write to you local CHC and confirm. This will make the things further clear.

I am a big time supporter or IELTS Academic can consider in PR instead of General Version.

This is true. Academic version of IELTS, if already taken and if still valid, is being accepted according to a few post's.

If you have not taken IELTS yet, then, go for General version - period.

In my case, I have academic and it is valid but I contacted my CIC office in London and they insist about doinf General mode and consequently I did the General. In my opinion It is better to ask your CIC office.

This is also true. Applicants who claimed that their Academic test results were accepted (see trackkit.com) wrote the same thing i.e they asked CIC. So, Guys up to you.
