good morning all! first i wanna say how lucky i a'm to be in this great country called CANADA....now i got a question ,i'd like to sponsor my mother but my concern is wife is on ei for now looking after our new born but she'll be back on the work force in dec/09 ;my question is how much money do i need to make if i have a family of four?does anybody know this?and what are my chances to qualify to sponsor mom if wife is on ei right now...thank you in advance...oscar

It's at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5196E10.asp and scroll down to table 4 - LICO. It says for 4 people, you need to make $40,259 a year. If you made that last year according to tax return, you can apply now. If you need to count your wifes income as well, she can co-sign. Wife being on EI should not matter.

-Just a thought, you may apply for your mother's visit visa. That way she can come faster and accompany your family. However, her status will be visitor and temporary.
