Transcript for “Applying online for an Off-Campus Work Permit” Video
Video length: 5:03 minutes
Welcome!
If you are an international student with plans to work off-campus while you are studying in Canada, this video is for you.
It covers the Online Application process for an Off-Campus Work Permit. We will talk about what you need to know and do.
But first, if you have not already done so, be sure to watch Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s video called, “How to complete an Online Application.”
The video will give you plenty of useful information about using our Online Application system. It can be found on the CIC website at: www.immigration.gc.ca/e-servicesvideo.
Applying for an Off-Campus Work Permit is a two-step process.
First, you must have a valid study permit and request an Electronic Verification Number or EVN from your institution. An Electronic Verification Number is a confirmation from your educational institution that you meet the academic requirements to hold an Off-Campus Work Permit.
Requesting an Electronic Verification Number can only be done online through MyCIC.
Once you have your Electronic Verification Number, you can then complete and submit your application for an Off-Campus Work Permit.
Let’s go through how this works – in detail.
Remember that you can follow along with this video open in a separate window as you work with our online system.
