How long one can postpone/defer going to Canada - once approved.

Hello,

I wanted to know what is the grace period given to applicants once the immigration application is approved at New Delhi. Is there a period like say 1 year or 6 months for individual to wrap up? Also can we request any postponment due to important events like education or job?

Finally is there otherwise option to go to Canada and return to continue here for sometime if above is not allowed?

You have to land before the expiration of your visa. You can land and then come back to your country after receiving your permanent residence card but you must have received your PR card before travelling as that is what you will use in gaining assess to Canada when coming back.

Here you a tip, check your medicals date, and based on this date you must start the clock one year ahead, for instance, let's pretend that you did your medicals on september 21st 2007, and let's say that you receive your visa by March of 2008, so you will have only 6 months to pack up and do your landing. it is much likely that you must land before September 20th 2008.

Bottom line, it means one year after the medicals done
