I am a Canadian citizen who lives with my wife and her daughter in Mendoza, Argentina. We want to visit my mother in Canada (New Brunswick) for 10 days in July. I have spent many many hours trying at the Can Gov't site trying to navigate and apply. I have never seen such a useless site with no help available. It keeps funneling me to sponsorship for 3 years.

We are just starting our new business here, so we have very little income yet. My mother will be supporting the three of us and travel cost for the 10 day visit. We do not want to immigrate to Canada, just a 10 day visit max.

Please if anyone has any advice on this subject, please share.

Thank You!

Mark

You need proof that your wife and stepdaughter will leave Canada. Proof the child is enrolled at school and is expected back after the break, proof of the business, proof of your ties to Argentina such as a business visa or resident visa, and anything else that ties your wife and stepdaughter to Argentina.

I have my Argentina permanent residency visa, we have just finished registering our business in Argentina and my step daughter should be able to get proof of enrollment in University when it starts in March. My next question is do we travel under a family sponsorship with myself as a sponsor, or my mother as a sponsor, or just a tourist visitor temporary residency visa. Is there no real visitor visa for Canada ?

Thanks,
Mark

Your wife and step-daughter will need TRVs, Temporary Resident Visas. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/visa.asp

Hi Mark,

I found your post as I was looking into this myself. I don't come with any answers but actually a question for you. It's now June, did you ever go or find anything out? I'm married to an Argentine woman myself and would like to visit Vancouver as well. I'd appreciate any tips that you have. Did you pay someone to do the service for you or did you do the mail/online application? I am a resident of Argentina as well but I wasn't sure how to sponsor my wife. My mother would be willing and able. I imagine that's a better idea, as I don't work in Canada. Again, any tips you have would be helpful.

Cheers,

Nick

Hi

Your wife needs to apply for a TRV. Neither you nor your mother would be sponsoring her; however, your mother can write a letter of invitation to bolster the TRV app. There is no point in paying someone to apply for a TRV on her behalf. To be approved, she will need to show strong ties to Argentina.
