If anyone can provide some insight on this I'd really appreciate it!

- I've emailed HRSDC too -

I work in marketing/business development for a consulting firm. The firm installs and consults on data management tools, data warehousing, business intelligence software and so on. A large part of my role involves placing cold calls to directors of IT, HR etc, sending emails and following up with organizations that visit our website. The sales office is very small and there are only two of us performing this role, with a high level of discretion as to how we go about it, which campaigns we run, who we target etc. Therefore I would not call myself a telemarketer - there is much more to my role than simply reading a script (we don't even use scripts).

However I am finding it hard to find a NOC code that is suitable for my role... it is something like a combination of 6221 and 1241... my title is 'Account Specialist' (although before my permanent contract it was Inside Marketing Representative)

This is what I do:

• Record and prepare minutes of meetings
• Compile data, statistics and other information to support marketing campaign efforts
• Implement new modules into CRM software
• Maintenance of client/contact CRM database
• Schedule and confirm appointments and meetings of Directors
• Proofread website content
• Developing pitch ideas and strategies for discovering new business
• Discovering new business by conducting phone and email marketing campaigns according to developed ideas.
• Offering new services and products to existing clients, maintaining relationships
• Leading weekly sales meetings with client directors and the VP of sales, taking minutes.
• Keeping abreast of developments in the technology sector
• Development of website strategy/ reviewing content

Thanks!
Felix

EDIT

Having thought more, this would also be a true description of my role, perhaps it would fit with 6221?

• Specialized in promoting and selling training and support solutions for data management, business intelligence and visualisation tools (e.g. SAP Business Objects, Crystal Reports, Qlikview)
• Identify and solicit potential clients
• Promote sales to existing clients
• Assess clients' needs and resources and recommend a solution
• Prepare and administer sales contracts
• Compile data, weekly reports and other information for the VP of Sales and CEO
• Develop pitch ideas and strategies for discovering new business, report to and recommend to VP of Sales
• Offer new services and products to existing clients, maintaining relationships
• Record and prepare minutes of meetings
• Maintenance of client/contact CRM database
• Implement new modules into CRM software
• Proofread website content and press releases
• Keep abreast of developments in the technology sector

Thanks,

6241 is not currently accepted under the CEC program -
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/apply-who.asp

6221 is probably your best bet, but you have to make sure that the VO doesn't think it is 6241 -

The 2nd version is much better than the first. The first version, you put "record and prepare minutes of meetings" as your first duty, which makes you sound like an administrative assistant, or even a clerk, which could make the VO "downgrade" your NOC.
