Got this email from ATIP today

I got this email today about my gcms notes that I applied for in July 16. Is this normal email that people get when they apply for notes? This was my first time so just curious. Also they emailed me on July 23 saying that I need to email consent form to them, which I sent to them via email on July 26.





This is further to your request under the Access to Information Act, which was received on July 16, 2013, for the following:

The New Delhi physical sponsorship file concerning ******

Despite our best efforts to process your request within the 30-day statutory limit, an extension of up to 50 days pursuant to paragraph 9(1)(a) of the Access to Information Act, is required to process your request. This paragraph states that a request may be extended if "the request is for a large number of records or necessitates a search through a large number of records and meeting the original time limit would unreasonably interfere with the operations of the government institution."

on the request it says "physical file" so you might want to contact them and clarify that you don't need the physical file.
If they have to take the physical file from new Delhi, it will delay your case. Electronic file won't but it looks like they are processing your request as physical file - write back to them and check.

Thanks Sweden. I just replied to email now asking if they could change to electronic file. Fingers crossed that they even respond to me lol

The electronic file, no. The physical file, yes, probably.

Can you tell me difference between physical file and electronic file? I ticked on physical file and now is passing 60 days, I have not received my notes yet.

Hi got cd from ATIP yesterday. I applied for GCMS on 17th August. Although I requested email from them but they instead send me cd. From what I notice in comparing new and previous GCMS is that even we see notes in GCMS about their concerns before interview but we don't see the last few key lines. I think they hide it intentionally and once we pass the interview only then we can see that in the new set of GCMS notes.

That's really good you got in like 5 days. I'm 30+ I emailed yesterday saying I selected elctronic not pyshical and if not too late to change mine to electronic. No response yet. I think I will just reapply again and make sure I select electronic

The delay in your application will come from the fact that they need to obtain all the documents in your file and make copies.

So if you want to avoid this problem, you need to make sure they don't continue the ATIP request for the physical file.

Yuh I emailed saying to stop physical copy and send electronic copy. I will wait until next week if no response will just do another application for electronic. Do you think that's ok to do or will the 1st one I did for physical interfer with it?

I think what you did is probably okay. If not, they will tell you.
