Hi all, has anyone go on working holidays while waiting for IP?

We applied outland in March 2015 and I got AoR2 in May, but it seems like HKVO has slowed down the processing time to snail speed, hubby and I are thinking about going to Australia on Working holidays visa so we both can work and can also visit friends there till I get the COPR.

What will the outcome be if we do so? What I can think of is we might be asked to show the proof of our intention of moving back to Canada, and also we might have to change our address to CIC when we go to Australia, or maybe we don't have to because we put hubby's parents' address on the mailing address so we won't miss any mail CIC sends?

I extended my visitor visa till next April, I hope leaving before then won't affect on my record at CIC's end due to we asked the time of visa extension but we did not stay as long as we required.

Really need suggestions and advise please!

If your husband is a Canadian citizen, it is OK. If he is just a PR himself, he has to stay in Canada during the processing of the visa.

Since you don't know how long you will be staying in Australia, it is OK to keep the permanent address you have already given them, since his parents can send you anything.

You could also change your address to your Australian one.

If CIC knows you two are living outside Canada, they will ask for proof that your husband is planning to move back to Canada when you get PR.

Not staying in Canada as long as you originally planned should not affect the PR visa. Keep in mind that to get back into Canada before you have the PR visa, you will need another TRV (unless you are from a visa-exempt country).

Thank you so much for replying!!! :)

Yes, I'm from a visa-exempt country so coming back shall not be a problem.

My other concern is when I have the passport request, the visa officer will see the working holidays visa, not sure they will ask further info of that or not. We've called CIC for four different times and all of the agent told us as long as the mailing address is correct, informing CIC for the current address changes is optional (but suggest to do so).
I wonder if the working holidays visa on the passport will cause us any problem :/

According to the VO processing time and our plan on going to Australia, I might the passport request two-three months after we are there so it won't be a long time unless the VO keeps slowing down the processing speed then we might end up staying longer.

As you've stated yourself, you are visa-exempt; CIC will not request your passport.

Going to Australia on a Working Holiday Visa should not cause the visa officer to be suspicious, supposing he or she even finds out. You two will be together, which is evidence of your continuing relationship. The WHV is for a short time, so they won't suspect you are planning to immigrate to Australia instead.

The only issue is that they might ask for proof your husband will be going back to Canada. He could show an airplane ticket, the end date of his job in Australia, job searches in Canada, etc. to show this if asked.
