It has been 11 months since we applied for PR. I am a US citizen. My husband is Canadian. They lost our file for four months and approved his sponsorship in Dec 2011. ( we applied sept. 9). They began processing on March 1, 2012. 6 months after we applied. Late March we got a letter stating an interview was not necessary. April my husband (sponsor) got a letter telling him to pay an amount of $150.00. He did. We don't know for what. Buffalo closed. We have not heard anything since beginning of APril. Not even a transfer of our file. Medicals expire this month. We have lived in limbo for nearly four years. 1.5 of those as a married couple 2000 miles apart. We are both in our forties. I emailed the Ottawa office two weeks ago and have not gotten any response. I have lost faith in this process. Maybe it's time to call it quits.

- signed,
resigned.

I think I will withdraw our application by July 31 unless someone has a better idea.

Have you order your CAIPS notes to determine what's happening with your application?

did you try to call them and put some pressure ?

I am not aware of any notes. And the CIC has made me so afraid to contact the visa offices because they say it could DELAY processing. THank you, though, can you tell me how I would do this?

Dear gigotheking,

I don't think the CIC responds well to "pressure". We did that in November when it had been past the time for processing sponsors. ANd no one seems to know where our file even is so I don't know who to call.?

its not necessarily pressure when you have waited soooooo long and things have gotten lost and what not.
i think its more concern.

i know some people who went through visa offices such as mexico or ones in latin america and when they emailed about something they speed the process up.
but i think it all depends on the visa office whether they dont mind being contact or they hate it..

but in your case it has been long and they lost your application once. so i think you have the right to know what is going on with your case. its not fair to you.

i will try to find the link to order the notes. if someone doesnt post it before me

:)

OH ELOH!!! Please do not give up. This process really is enough to drive you crazy, I know. Our timelines are similiar.. If I were your husband (this is what I did) he should contact his MP office right away, explain your story how long its been all that has been going on ect. My MP office has been helping me and inquiring for me last 2 months, they can find out things that Ottawa cant or wont tell us. Its definitely worth a try. also order your CAIPS.... Ask your hubby to do this straight away tomorrow. & let us know. Good luckl

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/completed.asp

here is the link. you can read about the notes on there and on the right side they have the forms you can fill out to receive these notes.

they will tell you everything that has happen with your case since you first sent it in.
they are very usefull to see where the file is. what stage its at. what they think baout it and what they have and have not looked at yet :)

thank you all. We have done everything asked of us in a timely manner and have nothing we believe would hinder this process. I know there are so many people in the same situation. That helps. but it has taken its toll. I will order notes as soon as I figure out how. and I will have him call CIC one more time. Thanks again.

im wishing you good luck! and really hope everything wraps up quickly :)

I followed the link. How do I know what date and what form to request? Sorry, just not too clever with this. Are these notes specific to our case?

Dont forget to call your MP office (Hubbies) please see if they can help you

this is the instructions someone recently sent to me on how to order them. i think this will be more helpful than the instructions on the website.
if you still have questions feel free to ask!

GCMS notes are computer generated notes about your case, you can get all information about your application. you can get reason for interview also, why did they decide to schedule an interview for you.
you need to be in Canada to apply but your wife can order GCMS notes for you. sometime it takes 5-6 weeks to get these notes so you should apply asap. there are 2 forms you need to download, you need to sign one consent form authorizing your wife to get information about your case from CIC.
