Funds 'taking with you (on-self)' can be anything, based on ur personal requirement/s. But, as PofA, u need to show the following in any 'liquid' format:

Funds Required
CAD
-$ 10,833 (1, Self only)
-$ 13,486 (2 Family Members)
-$ 16,580 (3 Family Members)
-$ 20,130 (4 Family Members)
-$ 22,831 (5 Family Members
-$ 25,749 (6 Family Members)
-$ 28,668 (7 or More Family Members)

take as much as u want in addition to what is reqd. but never forget to declare them to IO.

if u want to open canadian bank account sitting in ur home country(india) for a family of 4 u can deposit maximum of CAD 25000 . check out the scotia bank site.rest u can take by travel card, cash
