Hi all,

I am a naturalized Canadian citizen (unmarried) and my previous citizenship was that of India.
For the purposes of getting married, I have been in India since Dec 2022 and I intend to go back to Canada in July 2023. I am self employed in IT and luckily my client is okay with me coming back in July and so my employment in Canada is intact as I am working remotely.
I also own a condo in Toronto and my mortgages are being paid along with the property taxes.
For tax purposes, I am still filing taxes in Canada.

My wedding is planned for May 2023 and I will be filing the sponsorship application for my would be spouse in May or June 2023 (one month before I return to Canada). If I file the application in May or June, will I be considered as a Canadian living abroad or a Canadian living in Canada for the purposes of sponsoring my spouse considering that by June it would have been 6 months since I last stayed in Canada?
