We have an Application number starting with F.
My wife received a PPR asking her to complete some Appendix A. It asked for her File No. and they forced her File No. starts with B.

Here's the excerpt:

"File No.: B........................"

We do not have any code/id/number/etc. that starts with B. We only have the F number.

What should we do?

Have you tried e-mailing them and double checking? Or logging in with the B file number and seeing if they switched it?

They sent the PPR with the F number. The F # is everywhere. Except for that B. It's extremely out of place.

I tried logging in with B, no effect.

Any other ideas? What is going on?

Don't worry, you can use the F number. In the application process, the applicant will be assigned 3 different numbers:

UCI (which is a universal identifier and will be with the applicant in future applications with CIC)
Application file number (for you it's the F number)
Application paper file number (B number for you)

It's a bit confusing for us, but fortunately all these numbers are connected. Hence if you login to eCAS, for example, with the applicant's UCI number (not yours, your wife's) and also login with her F number, you will see identical information for now.

So yes, you can use her F number.

Please note the UCI number you received with the sponsorship approval is yours. Just use the F number, and you should be fine.

My PPR from LA has the numbers right at the top in this format....
Name
XXXXX, XXXXX XXXXX File FXXXXXXXXX/BXXXXXXXXX

Dear Applicant,

We are pleased to inform you that the processing of your application for permanent residence in Canada has been completed.

OK, but my question is why are they asking for a B number if I have nothing like that?

Furthermore, are you saying it is OK to cross out the B and use the F number?

I think it's just a standart format letter, really. Like I mentioned, and as Deficient has suggestion, it's perfectly fine to cross out B and write your wife's F number. These are all pointing to the same set of file numbers and with one they can find the rest. No problem.

Some VOs communicate the paper file number to the applicant, and some don't.

OK super, thanks. I appreciate it. :)
