Good afternoon everybody,

I have extensively reviewed this site and found it to be a magnificent resource. However, there is one question that I need answered that I can't find answered here.

My spouse and I met in South Korea. She is American and I am Canadian. We are currently married and living in the US. We're planning on making the move north sometime next year. We're preparing her application.

We have sent away for her Korean criminal record check 3 times now. We've done it by the book all three times. First time was 3 years ago, then twice in the past 14 months. We have never received a reply from Korea. We pester the embassy and call Korea and the rest. It is a dead end.

What are we to do? We are sending the documents again today but I assume things will go as they have in the past. Is there another route we can take?

Thanks to anyone who answers.

The application states that if you really can't get a police check, to write an explanation. Include proof of your efforts to get the certificate.
They may still insist on it, though.
If you have a friend in Korea who could help you, he/she may be able to do in person what you can't long distance.
